Once you’ve determined what sort of help is required, the next step is to interview applicants. Always consider more than one candidate for the job. It’s the best way to find a good match. When interviewing prospects, ask the following questions:
- How long have you been in the field?
- What is your educational background?
- What professional organizations do you belong to?
- Are you insured?
- Are you bonded?
- Where have you worked previously?
- Do you charge hourly/daily/monthly/overall/by the shift/?
- Will you travel if required?
- Do you charge any possible hidden expenses or ongoing fees?
- Is there a less expensive monthly rate available?
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- Is there a difference in the cost of the day and night shifts?
- Are you reliable and honest?
- Are you an expert in your discipline?
- What payment is expected for vacation, holidays, sick days?
- Ask for references, then check them.
